President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, arrived today at the Shield of the Americas presidents' summit at the Trump National Doral hotel in the city of Miami. The meeting, convened by U.S. President Donald Trump, aims to establish an agreement among 12 countries of the American continent to counter organized crime, drug trafficking, and illegal migration. Also attending are Chile's elected president, José Antonio Kast, and the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar. Trump has described this agreement as «a new security initiative in the Western Hemisphere» and has designated Kristi Noem as the coordinator of this program. It is expected that President Mulino will hold bilateral meetings during the summit with high-ranking officials of the U.S. government, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Commerce Howard W. Lutnick, and Secretary of Energy Chris Wright. The presidents of Argentina, Javier Milei; Paraguay, Santiago Peña; Bolivia, Rodrigo Paz; El Salvador, Nayib Bukele; Ecuador, Daniel Noboa; Honduras, Nasry Asfura; the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader; and Costa Rica, Rodrigo Cháves, are also participating in this summit.
