Explosive Devices Found at NYC Mayor's Protest

New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said on Monday that authorities are investigating whether the men who brought crude explosive devices to a protest outside the mayor's residence were inspired by the Islamic State (ISIS) group. The unexploded devices were thrown during loud counter-protests held last Saturday near Gracie Mansion, during an event called "Stop the Radicalization of New York City" led by far-right activist Jake Lang. Tisch stated that these explosives could have caused serious injuries or even fatalities. She added that two people are in custody on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Tisch clarified that the New York Police Department is working on the case in cooperation with federal prosecutors and the FBI. The FBI reported that agents from its Joint Terrorism Task Force are participating in the investigation.
