The U.S. State Department announced on Monday that the Trump administration has designated Sudan's Muslim Brotherhood as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist organization. In a statement, the department also said it intends to classify the group as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, effective March 16. The U.S. State Department added: 'Muslim Brotherhood fighters, many of whom receive training and other support from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have carried out mass executions of civilians. The Sudanese Muslim Brotherhood's Al-Bara' ibn Malik battalion was designated under an executive order in September 2025 for its role in the brutal war in Sudan.' The U.S. State Department stated: 'As the world's foremost state sponsor of terrorism, the Iranian regime has funded and directed malicious activities worldwide through the IRGC.'
