U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is holding negotiations with a respected Iranian politician to end the war, and that this person is not the new supreme leader of the country, Mojtaba Khamenei. Trump explained that the negotiations are being led by a high-ranking official and that Iran is very eager to reach an agreement. The U.S. president emphasized that any deal with the Islamic Republic must prevent the nation from obtaining a nuclear weapon. "We don't want to see any nuclear bombs, any nuclear weapons," Trump stated, adding that the U.S. will seize Iran's enriched uranium. Trump also announced that there were more phone calls on Monday and that he foresees an in-person meeting between representatives of both countries "very soon." He said there are "important points of agreement," described the talks so far as "perfect," and stated that if they continue, "this problem, this conflict" will be over. Trump also mentioned that the U.S. has "annihilated the first, the second, and largely the third phase of the leadership."
