U.S. Navy Arrives in CENTCOM's Middle East Area of Responsibility

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday the arrival of a group of sailors and Marines aboard the USS Trippoli. According to a CENTCOM post on social media platform X, U.S. Navy personnel arrived at the ship in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility in the Middle East on March 27. CENTCOM stated that the America-class amphibious assault ship will serve as the flagship for the Marine Corps' Amphibious Ready Group 'Trippoli' (31st Marine Expeditionary Unit), which includes approximately 3,500 sailors and Marines, as well as transport aircraft and attack fighters, along with amphibious and tactical assets.
