A second American aircraft was hit by Iranian fire after a combat aircraft was shot down earlier today, according to a U.S. official source to NBC News. After the downing of the F-15 by Iran, a single-seat aircraft deployed to support the search and rescue mission was also hit by Iranian fire. According to an official, it was an A-10 Thunderbolt, known as Warthog, reported NBC News and noted by Agencia Noticias Argentinas. The official stated that the A-10 managed to enter Kuwaiti airspace, where the pilot ejected and the aircraft crashed. The pilot is safe and the A-10 aircraft was shot down in Kuwait, added the source. Iran also attacked two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters participating in the search and rescue operations for the F-15. The official stated that some military personnel suffered minor injuries from that attack, but all are safe. In total, Iran has caused the downing of two military aircraft this Friday—an F-15 and an A-10—and has shot down two Blackhawk helicopters in a single day, less than 48 hours after President Donald Trump stated in his primetime address that Iran had been 'completely decimated'.
