US President Donald Trump expressed optimism about reaching a peace agreement with Iran soon, in an interview with American NBC. Trump said: "I am optimistic that a peace agreement with Iran is close". He added that if the Iranians do not reach an agreement, the consequences will be very painful. Speaking about Iranian leaders, Trump said: "Iranian leaders are much more rational and agree to everything they need to agree to". Trump confirmed that Iran has no army today, saying: "The Iranians have been crushed and have no army". Speaking about southern Lebanon, Trump said: "The Israelis are scaling back their operations in Lebanon, I spoke with Netanyahu and he will handle the matter calmly".
