Two sources familiar with the matter said that the Trump administration will extend the waiver allowing countries to purchase Russian oil and petroleum products subject to sanctions, effective this Friday. They clarified that this move is part of efforts to control global energy prices following the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran. The U.S. Treasury Department has permitted the purchase of some Russian oil since mid-March under a 30-day sanctions waiver that expires on April 11.
