US to Block Maritime Traffic to Iranian Ports

United States Central Command (CENTCOM) forces will begin implementing a blockade of all maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports on April 13 at 10 AM Eastern Time in the northern country (11 AM in Argentina), according to a proclamation from President Donald Trump. 'The blockade will be applied impartially to vessels of all nations that enter or leave Iranian ports and coastal zones, including all Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman,' states a communiqué released this Sunday by CENTCOM, which was accessed by the Argentine News Agency. 'CENTCOM forces will not impede the freedom of navigation of vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz bound for or from non-Iranian ports,' it adds in writing. Additionally, the US command added that 'additional information will be provided to commercial mariners through a formal notice prior to the start of the blockade.' For this, it is recommended that 'all mariners be attentive to the transmissions of 'Navigational Notices' and communicate with US naval forces via channel 16 (bridge-to-bridge) when navigating in the Gulf of Oman and in the approaches to the Strait of Hormuz.'
