Trump to Hold UFC Fight at White House for His 80th Birthday

US President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday on June 14 in an unconventional way. On Sunday, he announced a fight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) at the White House. Trump shared the news on his Truth Social platform. It is known that he is a fan of this sport, although initial plans were to hold the fight on July 4, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of US independence. The main event on June 14, which also falls on US Flag Day, will be a lightweight bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, as well as a fight for the interim heavyweight title between Alex Pereira and Cyril Gane. On Saturday, Trump attended a fight in Miami with family members and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. On the same day, Vice President JD Vance announced that no agreement had been reached between the US and Iran. During a speech to sailors at the naval base in Norfolk, Virginia, Trump said: "We are going to have a big fight at the White House on June 14, yes, right on the White House grounds." Trump did not mention that he would be celebrating his birthday on that day and turning 80. UFC is the largest professional league for mixed martial arts, which combines boxing, kickboxing, and wrestling in a cage. Its feature is that the fights are real and not theatrical.
