Eagles Win Super Bowl LIX Celebrated with Tequila

The owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, Jeffrey Lurie, celebrated his team's victory in Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs with a peculiar tradition: a bottle of tequila. This triumph marked the second Vince Lombardi trophy won by the Eagles, frustrating the three-peat hopes of Patrick Mahomes's team.

Jeffrey Lurie, besides being the owner of the NFL team, is a tequila enthusiast, a passion that dates back to his time in Mexico, where he lived due to his marriage to a Mexican woman. He is also the president of General Cinema Corporation, a film production company.

Lurie, who took over the presidency of the Eagles in 1994 after taking out a million-dollar loan to acquire the team, is known for his affinity for Mexico and his celebrations after important victories, opening a bottle of tequila in the locker room with his team. This unique custom was revealed by journalist John Sutcliffe, who also mentioned Lurie's close friendship with Bono from U2.

The Philadelphia Eagles have won two Super Bowls in their history. In addition to the recent victory in Super Bowl LIX, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, they previously became champions in Super Bowl LII in 2018 by beating the Patriots 44-33. On both occasions, Jeffrey Lurie celebrated with his bottle of tequila in the locker room, making clear his passion for this Mexican spirit and his connection to the team.
