The tournament director of the Indian Wells tournament, Tommy Haas, confirmed that Venus Williams will not participate in the events taking place from March 2 to March 16. In his tweet, he wrote: "Our team received confirmation that Venus will not accept our invitation this year. We hope she returns to the court next season."
Venus Williams, despite being 44 years old, shared her thoughts regarding the Wild Card invitations to the Indian Wells tournament. She said: "I used to get a Wild Card from the newcomers, just as you do. I want to clarify that I really love Indian Wells and I enjoy being there. If I had the opportunity to agree, I would have done it, but I already have a scheduled appearance during the tournament period."
