Inter Miami's head coach, Javier Mascherano, decided to rest Messi so he can be in optimal condition for the next match against Cavalier of Jamaica in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
For its part, Houston Dynamo issued an official statement confirming that Messi will not be present at the match. Additionally, Inter Miami was forced to apologize and give away tickets to fans for the upcoming matches, as they were expecting a full stadium of 22,000 people for the clash against Houston Dynamo.
The cheapest ticket for the match cost around 80 dollars, while some were resold for as much as 200 dollars. Messi's absence generated disappointment among fans, but the Texas team decided to compensate them for this situation. The decision to rest Messi was made to ensure his optimal physical condition for the upcoming challenge in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
