Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will be out of action for at least a week due to a right quad contusion and a strained muscle after getting injured during the team's 104-100 loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. Curry underwent an MRI after the game, and the Warriors announced on Thursday that he would be re-evaluated in a week, meaning he will likely miss at least three games. "I think we can hold down the fort for a couple of days." Curry, 37, in his 17th NBA season, and Houston's Amen Thompson fell hard under the basket with 3:24 remaining and the game tied at 91 after Thompson drove to the rim, which was initially called an offensive foul. He limped to the locker room with 35.2 seconds left. "Everybody's just got to do a little bit more, nothing too drastic, everybody plays a little bit better and collectively you hope it's enough to win," commented Warriors' Brandin Podziemski. Head coach Steve Kerr said he could see Curry suffering after the play. The two-time MVP finished with 14 points on 4-of-13 shooting (2-of-9 from 3-point range), seven rebounds, five assists, and seven of the Warriors' 16 turnovers that led to 22 Houston points. Houston challenged and the call was changed to a block on Curry, who winced in pain on the floor. The Golden State medical staff and coaches typically use a progression in workouts before an injured player returns to game action, so it could take more time before Curry is back on the court. "Nobody wants to get hurt, especially him," said his teammate Jimmy Butler. "Obviously, we go as far as he goes, but we want him to be healthy so we can have the best chance to be great."
