Inter Miami wins first MLS championship in history

Inter Miami, featuring Argentine star Lionel Messi, defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 to become champions of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. In the match held at Chase Stadium, Colombian defender Edier Ocampo scored an own goal in the 9th minute, giving Inter Miami the lead. In the second half, midfielder Ali Ahmed equalized the score in the 15th minute, but Argentine Rodrigo De Paul put the hosts ahead again in the 29th minute. Finally, the match was sealed by Argentine Tadeo Allende with his goal in the 49th minute of the second half. With this result, Inter Miami is crowned MLS champion for the first time in its short history. Its previous titles were the Supporters Shield in 2024 and the Leagues Cup in 2023. For Argentine star Lionel Messi, this is his 48th title of his successful career. In terms of league titles, this is the thirteenth he has won in his trophy collection.
