Inter Miami eliminated from Concacaf Champions Cup

Inter Miami experienced one of the darkest moments in its short history on Wednesday, being eliminated from the Concacaf Champions Cup round of 16 at home after a 1-1 draw with Nashville. The grand project led by Lionel Messi, which had continental glory as its main goal this year, could not win either of its two matches in the tournament. The 0-0 draw in Nashville saw them knocked out on the away goals rule. Messi's 900th career goal was not enough. Despite the introduction of Luis Suárez, Inter Miami was eliminated feeling they had underperformed. This is Inter Miami's earliest exit in the tournament in their third consecutive year, following quarter-final exits in 2024 and semi-finals last year. To make matters worse, Spanish defender Sergio Reguilón had to be substituted in the 40th minute due to physical issues. Nashville will face the winner of the tie between América and Philadelphia Union in the quarter-finals.
