Sabalenka Defeats Gauff to Win Miami Masters 1000 Title

The Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka (world No. 1) defeated American Coco Gauff (world No. 4) in three sets to become the champion of the Miami Masters 1000 tournament. As reported by the Argentine News Agency, the world's top-ranked player reached the final after defeating Kazakh Elena Rybakina (world No. 2) in the previous round in two sets. Despite Sabalenka starting the match by winning the first two games, Gauff took the lead in the next three games, going up 3-2. However, the world number one managed a double break before closing out the first set 6-2 in a dominant manner. After a close second set that Gauff won 6-4 by breaking the European's serve, Sabalenka showcased all her class in the third and final set. Right from the start, the Belarusian broke Gauff's serve, held her own serve in two consecutive games to go up 5-3, and then sealed the victory with her fourth break of the match when Gauff sent a backhand long. Thus, the Belarusian achieved the 'Sunshine Double,' a historic feat given to players who have managed to win the Indian Wells and Miami Masters 1000 tournaments consecutively. In this feat, Sabalenka joins Polish player Iga Swiatek, her compatriot Victoria Azarenka, Belgian Kim Clijsters, and German Steffi Graf.
