US Stock Markets Closed for Martin Luther King Day

US stock markets were closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. They will reopen on Tuesday following the inauguration of President Donald Trump.

American stock markets were closed on Monday in connection with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. According to the tradition, trading was suspended. However, on Tuesday the markets will open at the usual time after the inauguration of the new U.S. President Donald Trump.

The closure of the exchanges was due to the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is observed annually on the third Monday of January. This day is dedicated to the memory of the prominent leader of the civil rights movement for African Americans in the U.S.

The standard stock exchange and the technological exchange NASDAQ remained closed on Monday, adhering to the tradition in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Both exchanges will begin operating at the usual time on Tuesday.

"On the eve of Donald Trump's inauguration, the markets hope for a new era in the U.S. economy and financial policy," analysts note.
