A spokesperson for the musician and entrepreneur stated that the documentary is a “hit piece” intended to harm him. Following Combs’ public accusation of the alleged use of illicitly obtained content, a Netflix representative provided Variety with a statement from the series’ director, Alexandria Stapleton. The filmmaker stated that her team “obtained the material legally and had the necessary rights.”
