U.S. health authorities are investigating cases of poisoning of several infants in a number of states after they consumed a certain type of infant formula. The poisoning cases are linked to an infant formula that is being pulled from the shelves amid a scare among mothers. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in a statement that company «By Heart» has agreed to begin recalling two lots of its complete nutrition infant formula. The 13 infants were hospitalized after consuming the formula, while no deaths have been reported. The FDA is investigating how the contamination occurred and whether it affected any other products. The product, which is available online and through major retailers, accounts for an estimated 1% of national formula sales, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
