The U.S. State Department reported Wednesday that more than 17,500 of its citizens have returned to the country from abroad. This number continues to grow amid efforts to repatriate Americans stranded overseas. Authorities are working to organize additional flights to ensure the safe return of citizens home. According to officials, the priority is to assist those who have found themselves in difficult situations. "We are doing everything in our power to ensure no one is left without support," the department said. Several more groups of Americans are expected to arrive in the coming days.
