Former Minnesota governor and former U.S. Navy SEAL Jesse Ventura called on U.S. President Donald Trump's son, Barron, to join the military. This statement came during Ventura's appearance on British journalist Piers Morgan's show 'Uncensored.' During the interview, Ventura criticized President Trump's military policies, stating that it is unacceptable for leaders to send other people's children to battlefields without being willing to send their own. He said to Trump, 'How can you send other people's children to war while not sending any of your own?' Ventura noted that he himself enlisted in the military in 1969 after high school and served in an elite naval unit during the Vietnam War, where he received several medals, including the Vietnam Service Medal, the Navy Campaign Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal for his military service. Ventura urged Barron Trump to break what he called the family tradition, pointing out that none of Trump's children—Donald Jr., Eric, Ivanka, Tiffany, and Barron—have served in the armed forces. He added that Trump has been married three times and has children from each marriage, yet none of them have served in the military. Ventura sent a direct message to Barron, saying, 'You can change this reality and do something no one in your family has ever done by joining the U.S. Army.' Ventura also touched on the Trump family history, explaining that the president's father, Frederick Trump, as well as his grandfather, did not serve in the military. He claimed that the grandfather, born Friedrich Trump in Germany, dodged mandatory military service when he immigrated to the United States, which later led to him losing his German citizenship. Furthermore, Ventura dismissed the reasons given for Barron not enlisting, particularly his height of 206 cm, finding this excuse unconvincing. He cited the example of famous basketball player David Robinson, who is 213 cm tall but nevertheless served in the U.S. Navy. Ventura said, 'You can't just enjoy the benefits of this free world; someone from your generation has to wear the uniform, and you, Barron, can be that person.' In a related development, a hashtag calling for Barron Trump to be sent to the army has been widely circulated recently. Businessman, writer, and television host Toby Morton even created a website urging Barron to join the armed forces. It is worth noting that 79-year-old Donald Trump did not serve in the military, as he was exempted due to a bone spur. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Barron Trump lives in the White House while studying at New York University's Washington, D.C., campus and is of an age that would allow him to enlist if the government and Congress were to implement a military draft.
