The President of the United States, Donald Trump, warned China on Saturday that it will face 'big problems' if reports that it is preparing to send weapons to Iran are confirmed.
'If China does that, China is going to have big problems,' he told the press at the White House before flying to Florida.
The Republican leader reacted when asked about information published by CNN that U.S. intelligence services have detected that China is preparing to deliver new air defense systems to Iran.
U.S. intelligence also believes that Iran is using the current temporary ceasefire as an opportunity to replenish certain weapon systems with the help of partners such as Beijing.
Trump is scheduled to travel to Beijing in May to meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
The United States and Iran began negotiations in Islamabad on Saturday to end the war that began on February 28, in which U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf participated.
This is the highest-level face-to-face contact between the United States and Iran since the two countries broke off relations after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
