Regarding the talks, Trump said that «talks are ongoing and going very well», despite «false statements being promoted by fake media and others». During his extensive discussion with senior war officials with Iran during a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Trump said that the responsibility for sitting at the negotiating table and ending the fighting lies with Iran, according to the American CNN network. He added that «he doesn't care about reaching a deal with Iran because the United States is ready to continue military operations». Trump urged Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions once and for all, saying they now have an opportunity to «chart a new path forward». He refused to disclose whether the US would move to secure uranium in Iran, calling the question «silly». The American president indicated that controlling Iranian oil supplies «is an option», adding that «a solution in Iran could resemble a solution in Venezuela». He downplayed the rise in gas prices and the war's impact on the stock market, saying it «wasn't as severe as I thought».
